VOLUNTEER AT THEMUSEUM!

Position Title: Docent (Exhibit Tour Guide)

Posted Date: January 23, 2012

Time Commitment: 5 hours per week, Monday – Friday or weekends, available throughout the year

Start Date: Immediately

 

Description

  • Presenting public and private tours of the current exhibit

 

Skills and Experience

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ease making presentations to the public, which could be groups as small as 1 or 2 people or as large as 50-100 people.

  • Able to learn specific information regarding the current exhibit and in turn deliver it to our visitors in an engaging and entertaining manner. 

  • Driven, autonomous, and energetic

 

Position Title: Gallery Assistant

Time Commitment: 5 hours per week, Monday – Friday or weekends, available throughout the year

Start Date: Immediately

 

Description

  • Support to Interpreters (THEMUSEUM floor-staff), and Docents by helping with crowd-control, customer/ visitor-service and assisting with our Public Programs

  • Public-facing role, expected to be able to converse and answer questions about the exhibits and displays

 

Skills and Experience

  • Proactive, driven, a great communicator

  • Demonstrated ease speaking and interacting with the public

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Able to jump into the role where the need is greatest

  • Fast learner; able to quickly learn specific information regarding RAM and in turn deliver it to our visitors in an engaging and entertaining manner

Time Commitment: Dependant on the availability of the volunteer, however all shifts would likely occur during normal business hours Monday – Friday 9 – 5

Start Date: Immediately

 

Description

  • Assistance in developing programs that will be focused around our upcoming exhibits for public programming, school groups, special events

  • Program supplies and resources will be made available through THEMUSEUM.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Experience creating and implementing school programs in any of the age categories - JK-12.

  • Experience working with children

  • Teacher’s College an asset
